    Hi there friends!

So here's a funny story.. Out of the two and a half years that we have been open, it wasn't until earlier this year that we fully realized that you would classify us a gift store! I mean, we always knew that people bought gifts from us, but we had never really connected the dots. Isn't that strange? I suppose when you are so close to a project you don't often take a step back to see what it looks like to others.

Any-who, we have put together some collections for you while we are in a mad-birthday season, and are coming up to thee busy season with Christmas! Keep updated for these gift guides as we will do this on the regular fo' ya! As well as that our front page of our online shop is updated every month with our newest products!

So, todays gift guide is 'For Him' because, let's be honest, they are the hardest to buy for!

    3. Fox Badge by Sensitive Boyfriend

    6. Get Shit Done Notebook by MiGoals

  • Bettering Bread and Butter: A Survey!

Ever since we first opened our doors, Sarah and I have been haunted with the thought, 'yeah, this is great.. but, how can we do it even better?!' So, we have now turned that question around on you guys - we would love to know what you think of us, where we should go, and what you think we can do better.

It's all anonymous, and there are only a handful of questions that 'require' an answer, so if you have 5 minutes to spare, we would love for you to fill it out! We would be ever so appreciative.

And to say thanks, there is a discount code at the end for all online purchases, AND one of you will be picked at random to win a gift of $100 from products in our store! THAT IS HUGE!

Do our survey here and now!

  • Priscilla Hunter Silver Jewelry

We are so, so, so, (SO, SO, SO) happy to introduce you to our newest artisan supplier, Priscilla Hunter!

This young lady is a fantastic artist from Auckland who has just recently discovered a passion for sterling silver jewelry. And aren't we glad that she did!

Her Bone Collection is beautifully hand made; understated and delicate, yet somehow also chunky and heavy. I would keep harping on, but I think it'll be better to just show you what I'm talking about..

There are heaps more designs, so be sure to check them all out here! They will be in store first thing Saturday morning.

On another note, she has beautifully re-decorated our window with this cool mexican-kitsch theme, and we are.in.love. (Anyone else coveting the bunnies bone boho tie?!)

So go over to her and give her a friendly 'like', and be sure to pop in and try some of Aucklands freshest sterling silver jewelry, exclusive (for now) to The Bread and Butter Letter!

Hope you have a lovely weekend
    xx

  • The June Auckland Art and Craft Fair 2013

We were a proud and happy sponsor of the awesome bi-annual handmade bonanza The Auckland Art and Craft Fair just last week!

There was a long line of handmade lovers waiting for 11am to tick over. And then, all of a sudden, it was mayhem! A good mayhem. A fun and friendly and supportive mayhem.

It was a very busy month for us leading up to the event, as we really wanted our own brand, Jam Handmade, to fill up the table. It had always been one of our main goals, so it was lovely to see it come into fruition! It gave us such a kick to see people gushing over the products we had worked so hard towards, and gotta say, Sarah and I have now got a taste for it. More products and markets to come, I'm sure!

Another thing that we really enjoyed about the fair was to see (almost all!) of our lovely suppliers in their natural habitat doing their thang; presenting their brand and networking with likeminded people. (More about these guys later *winkyface*)

(This impressive stall is from our supplier, ! <3 <3 <3)

We also loved seeing new products from fresh faces. It's always so inspiring! This picture is from :

As you can imagine from an event like this, the attendees are very stylie and creative. We also saw so many of our shop regulars! Here's some mega babes:

Over all, we had an incredibly fun day! We loved sneaking away when we could, to enjoy what our local friends have been whipping up, and celebrating New Zealand made. All 10'000 of us.

    Until next time,

    xx Rose

(Breaking News: The Auckland Art and Craft Fair have announced the next date.. November 30th! Book it in. It's a day not to be missed. And it's especially handy with Christmas being so close.)

  • July = Exciting

July is shaping up to be pretty exciting! We have two great events taking place over the month as well as our usual shenanigans, so it might be crazy busy one on top of all the exciting-ness (is that a word? It is now)!

Firstly to celebrate 2500 likers on Facebook we are having 25 days of sales throughout the month. Keep your eyes fixed on our , T and for the sale announcements. Each day will be different so you'll need to be quick on the mark. There are some real doozies in there!

And secondly is back again this month, on the 20th of July. Down in The Bread in Butter Letter Basement we hold a day full of bargains with rack upon rack of clothing up for grabs at crazy prices! If you are interested in having a stall send us an email at . This is one of our favourite events, we have so much fun meeting lots of new people, buying clothes and having a good ol' chin wag.

We hope the start of July has been a great one, I have a feeling its going to be a good month!

Pip pip (can you tell I have a bit of a thing for old fashioned sayings..),

    Sarah x

  • Listen To What We're Listenin' To!

Are you wanting to explore some new tunes? We thought we should let you know that we have a spotify account that is rocking the latest hits that we are loving right now, and listening to in store!

For example, Rose has made a playlist called 'Girl Buzz' that is a mixture of girl vocalists with rockin' semi-electronic-without-being-electronica bands! Artists like New Zealanders Lips and Lorde, also Lykke Li and Ms Mrs, etc.

And Sarah has made a nice Winter Warmer playlist from all New Zealand artists from new New Zealand albums that is relaxed and soulful! With artists like Tiny Ruins, The Ruby Suns, and Deer Park!

Our other shop girls are in the middle of making their playlists, but I bet Robecca from Sans Pareil Clothing will make a rocking 90s playlist with all the hits. ALL THE HITS!

Follow thebreadandbutterletter on spotify, or listen to 'Girl Buzz' here.

What new music are you loving right now? Would love to hear from you!
